Saddle Hills County is situated in the Central Peace Region of northwestern Alberta. It is located approximately 500 kilometers northwest of Edmonton, 55 kilometers north of Grande Prairie and abuts the British Columbia border. The west boundary of the County is just 15 minutes from Dawson Creek and 60 minutes from Fort St. John. The County is home to a diverse agricultural community, and also contains rich deposits of natural gas and oil.
You only need to travel a short 30 minutes north of Grande Prairie to find Saddle Hills County – a tranquil place where the wilderness is our backyard.

The oil and gas industry in the region is booming with provincial access leases to oil and gas companies exceeding $90M in 2014. Companies such as Canadian Natural Resources, Birchcliff Energy, and Tourmaline Oil Corp are actively drilling in the region and creating a progressive and growing economic base.
Their strategic location provides easy access to three major airports, Grande Prairie, Fort St. John and Dawson Creek all offering commercial passenger services to centers such as Prince George, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver.
Rail service is as close as the Village of Rycroft, the Hamlet of Woking and the City of Dawson Creek. Additionally Highway 49 and Highway 2 run through the County offering excellent access to two major road corridors.
